'R' Type

The Octagonal cross section Ring Joint is the development oval cross section and offers a better sealing performance. Only oval cross section gaskets can be used when the flange grooves are with the round bottom. Both Octagonal and oval cross sectioned gaskets can be used when the grooves of the flange are having a flat bottom.

The API 6A ring gaskets for 6B flanges would be the R & RX type, and for 6BX flanges, gaskets would be the BX types.

Controlled compressibility:

Compression depends upon the density of the gasket which is varied according to the pressure application by changing the percentage of metal to filler in any given flange width. This ensures constant gasket stress at all times when installed.

Types:

MIP Spiral Wound gaskets are manufactured with inner and outer ring, with Inner ring only, with outer ring only and without rings as per buyer's requirements.

Jacketed gaskets are extensively used on smooth flange applications and are ideal for Heat Exchangers, Autoclaves, Columns, Boilers, Valve Bonnets, Gas Mains and similar services.

Construction:

Jacketed gaskets consist of a sheet metal jacket, and a filler of asbestos, CAF of some layers of sheet metal. The jacket metal should be as soft and as plastic as possible taking into account the corrosiveness of the fluid to be sealed. The filer material is chosen according to the imperfection of the flange. The better the surface finish and the flatness of the face, harder the filler can be.

MIP Double jacketed asbestos gasket. The two metal jackets cover both edges and both faces of the filler.

FAS

MIP single jacketed asbestos gasket. Asbestos is enclosed by a single metal jacket.

FOC

MIP Corrugated Double jacketed asbestos gasket

FAO

MIP Open edge, double jacketed asbestos gasket. All portions except the outer edge are covered by metal jacket.

FOK

MIP corrugated plain metal jacket with asbestos rope stuck to the corrugation on both sides.

FTL

MIP triple layer corrugated metal gasket. The resiliency of this gasket is much better than other jacketed gaskets and hence ideal for Thermal Cyclical service conditions.

FSL

MIP single jacketed, asbestos completely encased by the metal.

FOP

MIP corrugated plain metal gasket For low pressure joints and valve bonnets where space and weight limitations are prominent design factors. A minimum of 3 corrugations are recommended for effective resiliency and sealing.

MIP Inner Metal Re-inforced CAF Gasket: The metal beading protects attack of Inner Fluid giving a longer life and performance.

FTMR

MIP SS Reinforced CAF Teflon covered Gaskets:
The metal beading protects CAF from the attack of Acid and other corrosive service fluids. In addition, all over the surface CAF is protected by the inert Teflon thin envelops. The construction of these gaskets completely prevents contact of the service fluid with CAF.

RUBBER GASKETS

Gaskets are mechanical seals that prevent leaks between separate substrate sections. They are occasionally made of metal because they must be durable enough to withstand extreme pressures and wear. (In fact, the phrase "blowing one's gasket" refers to the unwanted result that occurs when pressure builds up too much and a gasket ruptures or fails in some way.) However, many gaskets, such as o-rings, can be made out of synthetic rubbers or silicone. These thick rubbers are robust enough to handle the kinds of extreme pressure and wear associated with gasket applications.

Rubber Gasket Applications

Gaskets are used in a wide variety of applications in a diverse range of environments, so factors like those listed above must be accounted for. Gasket types include o-rings, which are the most common type of gasket made of synthetic rubber, and account for a large portion of rubber gasket use. However, many other basic gasket seals are made out of rubber for commercial and industrial use on pipes, wood, and other applications. These gaskets can perform well with other rubber materials, various kinds of metal and even wood. Sealant must be incorporated to ensure a solid seal.
